Maine Youth Orchestra

The Maine Youth Orchestra (MYO) is a nonprofit orchestra designed to provide orchestral training for area students in grades 6 through 12, and rehearses out of the Greely Middle School in Cumberland, ME. MYO gives young musicians the unique experience of performing with a full orchestra that includes strings, brass, woodwinds, and percussion. MYO musicians are committed to studying orchestra literature at an intermediate to advanced level, and play alongside coaches who are professional musicians in the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, Midcoast Symphony Orchestra, and the Augusta Symphony Orchestra.

Many MYO students have gone on to attend music schools such a Julliard, New England Conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, Eastman School of Music and Oberlin Conservatory. Many of our alumni are professional musicians and teachers or amateur musicians with community symphonies.
