The Junior Naturalist: “Life in Forest City – How Humans Impact Urban Ecology”

Portland is the largest urban center in Maine, and it keeps growing each year. Despite the big city feel, our human residents are incredibly lucky to live with nature all around us. Diverse natural ecosystems within our city, such as forests, ponds, rivers, and salt marshes, host an abundance of wild plants and animals that also call Portland home. By exploring these ecosystems, and engaging in hands-on science experiments, participants will discover how the choices we humans make can either help or harm our natural spaces and affect our future quality of life in Forest City.
